The architectural office I.K.Verikakis & associates operates in Chania with the aim of studying and supervising a wider range of uses and interventions. In recent years the office focuses on the rehabilitation of historic buildings.
The dialectical relation of the architectural creation with the locus and the human, the functionality minimally expressed through the materials and the process of detailing are important parameters in the design approach of the office.
In the issues of restoration, the continuous and perpetual reinterpretation of the historical building as a presumption and the inclusion of the modern perception of life in it, considering that it is a scientific subject constantly evolving, are the axes of planning for the reuse and highlighting of the historical shell.
