Spyridon Kakavas is an architect and visual artist. He holds a degree in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA, 1991) and a degree in Sculpture from the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA, 2000), where he studied with a scholarship. He also earned a Master of Science in Environmental Design of Cities and Buildings (Hellenic Open University, 2010), with a thesis titled "Transportable Shells – Environmental Response."
He is the co-founder of the architectural practice Kakavas-Klonizaki Architects, which undertakes both public and private projects in Greece and internationally. His work has received distinctions in national and international architectural competitions, including awards and honorable mentions. Notably, he received 1st prize for the design of the Fine Arts School buildings in Florina (2019).
His projects have been widely published and exhibited, with award-winning work presented at prestigious events such as the 11th Venice Biennale (2006), UIA World Congresses (Turin 2008, Seoul 2017), and the 6th Biennale of Young Greek Architects (2008).
Beyond architecture, his visual art installations explore interactivity, spatial experience, and environmental responsiveness. These works have been exhibited in various settings and recognized in national art competitions.
From 2017 to 2021, he taught Architectural Design and Advanced Technological Design as an adjunct lecturer at NTUA's School of Architecture. He also taught Architectural Design at the Technical University of Crete (2017–2018). In 2021, he was elected Assistant Professor of Architectural Design at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete.
