Architectural Design

Short biographical note

He studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (Diploma of Architecture, 1998). He continued his studies in London where he obtained a Master of Architecture (Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, 1999-2000) and a Master of Philosophy (Royal College of Art, 2002-2004). In 2010 he earned his Doctorate Diploma (PhD) in architecture (National Technical University of Athens, 2010). Since 2005 he has taught architectural design, digital technologies, representation media, as well as several elective undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete. His research interests focus on digital and parametric design, the study of architecture in the context of digital culture, digital technologies and urban space, and the application of science and technology studies in architectural research. Author of 3 books ("Architecture and Adaptation: From Cybernetics to Tangible Computing", London / New York: Routledge, 2016). He has published numerous articles in international and greek scientific journals and conference proceedings (e.g. Joehlo, Fusion, Footprint, eCAADe and ASCAAD). Member of scientific committees of international conferences and review committees in international journals and research programs such as: Architecture and Culture, Canadian Journal of Communication, Re-Bus, Hybrid City Symposium, Intelligent Environments, Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS), Research Development Fund (Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University). He organizes and participates in research projects and workshops on parametric design, digital tools for the visualization of architectural information and critical cartography such as: "Revolutionary Palimpsest" (H.F.R.I. 2019), "Mapping Chania" (2017), "Digital Doxiadis"  (2015), "Crete3D" (CYTA 2013-14), "Sens[e-Res]ponsive workshop" (2011). He has been awarded the L’Architettura Automatica Prize in Bologna and the Keppie Prize in London. Since 2002 he has worked for the design and construction of private housing and residential development projects, leisure centers, shopping complexes and landscape design projects.
