Acoustic design

The purpose of this course is to introduce and familiarize students with the morphology of the performing arts hall as well as the acoustic behavior of the internal shell without electroacoustic amplification. Through the study of historical examples and recent approaches, students are invited to understand the interaction relationships between the triptych spatial organization - use - acoustics for a modern performance hall.
The subject of the course is to determine the spatial relation between the stage and the square, the design and the visual engraving of the stands and the design of the inner auditory shell of a small performance hall of 250 - 300 people. The main acoustic function of the room is the speech. The room will be able to host small-scale theatrical performances, lectures and, with appropriate configuration, film projections. The architectural planning includes a square with tiers of seating and stairs according to the applicable regulations, foreground and a scene with a backstage, as well as booths for the technical support of sound, lighting and projection. The main design scale of the overall plan and section is 1: 100 while the drawings are accompanied by calculation tables of the reverberation time and details in characteristic points.
