The course explores the contribution of digital interactive technologies to Architectural Design, using concepts from the fields of neuroscience and cognitive psychology as a vehicle for the study and analysis. Form, structure, system, scale, environment: is it possible to relate architectural vocabulary to human behaviour? And how could it create the possibility of more flexible, intelligent and adaptive buildings?
Through the analysis of sensory experiences, the observation of human behaviour in the built environment and experimentation with new technological tools, we will attempt to apply design tools based on our perception, behaviour and mood in space.
The course is structured in two parts: the first part deals with the analysis of the theoretical framework and experimentation with new technological tools, while the second part focuses on the application of the theoretical framework to the design of a public building.
