In his lecture Mauro Bertagnin outlines its long journey in earthen architecture since the discovery of earthen heritage during the didactic decade spent in Algeria at the EPAU School of architecture in Algiers and his meeting with CRATerre. Both the theoretical and technical aspects that have supported his conservation and maintenance works of important earthen architectural heritages, such as the mythical city of Timbuktu in Mali are described. A particular focus concerns the work carried out within the framework of the UNESCO WHC WHEAP program activities. The recent creative work on earth between sculpture and architecture in cooperation with a great international artist completes the path described in this lecture.
Mauro Bertagnin is an architect, urban planner, full professor of Architectural Design and former Dean of School of Architecture , University of Udine, Italy . Since 2017 he is Senior Professor of the School of Architecture , University of Udine.
Ο Mauro Bertagin εξειδικεύεται στη χωμάτινη αρχιτεκτονική, στο βιοκλιματικό σχεδιασμό και στη διατήρηση της αρχιτεκτονικής κληρονομιάς κτιρίων και συνόλων από φυσική δόμηση. Ο κ. Bertagin μεταξύ άλλων είναι βασικό μέλος της UNESCO-WHEAP Programme (World Heritage Earthen Architecture Programme) και από το 2010 αποτελεί βασικό στέλεχος της ομάδα διεθνών εμπειρογνωμόνων που φροντίζουν, για λογαριασμό της UNESCO-WHC, την επιστημονική και ιστορική διατήρησης του οικισμού New Gourna του Hassan Fathy στην Αίγυπτο.
